The SWISSCI MRC 2 Lens Crystallisation Plate is for protein crystallisation in a 96-well plate format. The plate was developed at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge, UK). It is the result of many years of experience in successful robotic high-throughput crystallisation.

The SWISSCI MRC 2 Lens Crystallisation Plate offers unique properties that make it ideal for both nano-litre crystallisation screening and micro-litre optimisation alike. Available in multiple optically superior polymers the plate allows easy crystal viewing and retrieval.

The UVXPO polymer is an optically superior UV transmissible polymer that additionally shows Uniform (Zero) background when using cross polarised light.

Better Sealing
Wide partition walls between the wells give plenty of area for good sealing with tape.
No central bending occurs in this very robust structure.
Excellent long term storage – no sample evaporation.

Wide range of volumes
Typical volumes are 40-100 μl of reservoir and 50 nl-5 μl drop size.

Available in 3 Different Polymers. Polystyrene (PS), UVP and UVXPO. The UVXPO polymer is an optically superior UV transmissible polymer that additionally shows uniform (zero) background when using cross polarised light. Low Profile Version Available Low Profile (LP) Plate has the same optical properties and uses the same volumes as the midi plate while saving on storage space. The Low Profile Plate is 7.75 mm and the Midi Plate is 11.7 mm in height.

The MRC Maxi optimization plate is a new design for macromolecular crystallization presented in a 48 well format. Offering easy to automate crystallization optimization with large sitting-drops. MRC Maxi is intended for large drops and is compatible both with standard robotic systems as well as manual pipetting. The plate was developed at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge, UK) in collaboration with Jan Löwe and Fabrice Gorrec. It is a result of many years of experience in successful robotic high-throughput crystallization and complements the original MRC crystallization plate.

About

SWISSCI’s UVXPO Sealing sheets are a 50 μm film with 50 μm inert encapsulated silicone adhesive. They are optically clear, with minimal to no auto-fluorescence (UV compatible), and are especially suited for protein crystallization and qPCR applications.
The encapsulated silicone adhesive is non-tacky until pressed against the sealing surface, at which time adhesive is released only in sealing areas to form the strongest available heat-resistant seal around each well on the plate.
UVXPO Sealing sheets are sized to fit within the edges of SWISCCI plates. Two end tabs assist in positioning the film on the plate, and the non-tacky adhesive surface simplifies handling.
